Transiting between two continents has become a way of life for me and this year was a privilege for me to travel amidst all the travel restrictions and what a pleasure it was to travel on Qatar Airways to my home country.
A picture is worth a thousand words
Transiting to Langebaan
The reason for traveling was actually to visit the tranquil seaside town of Langebaan on the West Coast of South Africa. The journey to Langebaan is just over an hours' drive from Cape Town and it is interesting to see how the terrain changes as one travels north.
The West Coast National Park is a popular destination for locals and tourists where abundant wildflowers can be seen from August to October every year.
Magical Langebaan
Besides the beautiful blue waters of the lagoon, Langebaan offers almost year-round sunshine and is the ideal location for watersports, especially kite surfers and wind surfers. The tidal lagoon attracts thousands of migrant birds every year with the resident flamingoes which can be seen.
One does not need to look hard to find a local eatery in the picturesque town along the lagoon.
The main reason for being in Langebaan was to set up our AirBnB on the Langebaan Country Estate, which boasts an 18-hole Gary Player Golf course, but most importantly has an abundance of wildlife such as buck, birds, tortoise and mongoose.
After 4 weeks in Langebaan it was time to transit back to the desert, but my heart remains in Langebaan.
